| This 42 minute practice, almost entirely done lying on the floor, is at once strengtening and quietening. Although each person’s needs vary, the lying sequence is suitable for some women during menses.
The practice begins with deep concentration on the breath, and matching gentle movements to the breath. Maintaining that gentle, collected spirit, James Jewell leads into a practice that includes leg rotations, leg lifts, twists, shoulder work, and moving bridge pose. The pace is calm, with times to rest and re-collect between the postures. For those who wish, the practice can be stronger than it may seem at first. Again, each sets the pace that might be right for them. The sequence ends with a dog pose, that may be omitted if a different posture seems more appropriate.
The CD is clear enough for anyone with some yoga experience to listen and follow without any guide. |
