| This 55 minute practice is an interesting and varied sequence that opens the back ~ and perhaps the mind as well ~ counteracting our natural tendency to close in.
James Jewell guides you into standing postures that open the back, and then moves smoothly and confidently into a sequence of backbends, some on the floor, some, like camel pose, from kneeling, including, as would be natural, upward bow for those who wish to try it. The instruction is very clear, and although it can be an invigorating practice, it is somehow relaxing at the same time.
The CD is clear enough for anyone with some yoga experience to listen and follow without any guide. To build confidence, a sequence of stick figures is available as a quick reminder. |
