OPENING TO CHAKRA AWARENESS

James Jewell YogaNidra CD Cover

"In stillness and quiet lies our strength"

Our being extends much further beyond than just a visible physical body. We are beings of energy, with multiple bodies of energy. As such we are receiving and giving this energy, this vital life force, constantly … as our breath demonstrates.  This CD encourages you to develop chakra awareness through hands-on experience. Direct knowledge comes through Direct experience. This goes way beyond the reasoning, judging nature of the mind and instead leads to direct awareness of the totality of our being.

The chakras are subtle energy centres, at the hub of our being, through which our energy bodies are made manifest. The physical body is just one beautiful expression of the full magnificence of our being; it is just one of the layers of our clothing. With more practice we further realise that we can positively effect and change this energy to heal and create as we need and wish......

How Chakra Awareness is Practiced:

The presence of the chakras are felt and recognised in our everyday lives constantly, with phrases such as “Butterflies in the stomach.” “Getting a gut feeling.” “To come from the heart.” “To get a  feeling for something or someone.” “To feel grounded or rooted.” “To be able to walk into a room of people and sense the atmosphere.” “To meet a stranger and know that you like them, before even talking or seeing their face… ”  “To fall in love…”

All of these phrases point to a knowing beyond just the physical realm.

There is much information about chakras to be read and sourced from different cultures. Anatomy of the Spirit  by Caroline Myss (ISBN 0-553-50527-0) and Paul Grilley's  Chakra DVD are two valuable sources that are thoroughly recommended to consolidate your personal experience further.

Chakra meditation is just one effective way to become more aware of the totality of our being, by shining the light of consciousness onto different parts of ourselves. Sometimes we do this to deepen a sense of wonder and other times to recover parts of ourselves we have forgotten, ignored or blocked.  Sometimes this can manifest in emotional pain and/or physical illness. Indeed each chakra generally affects and governs those areas of the physical body around and close to it.

James Jewell's CD Opening encourages you to develop chakra awareness through hands-on experience. Direct knowledge comes through Direct experience. This goes way beyond the reasoning, judging nature of the mind. The CD can be used at any time of the day, and as with any practice, will reap more benefits the more it is used. Indeed it is meant to stimulate the knowledge that we are ultimately all our own healers  - to act as we are moved to.

Chakra Practices on James Jewell's CD Opening

The first practice, with the laying on of hands, develops sensitivity to the seven principal chakras, as well as to those in our hands. It is also provides a focus to relax deeper and develop further the witnessing, meditative nature of the mind. Over time with practice we sense more readily whether a chakra feels full, balanced, empty, over stimulated, closed or open. These are all subjective terms. More importantly, we get to know how it is, how all the chakras are, and therefore how we are and why we are. We recognise cycles and rhythms in our being, which with intent and practice we can consciously ,positively change to lead fuller, healthier and more joyful, meaningful lives.

The second practice is a yoga nidra practice (following on from the first yoga nidra cd) to consolidate the spinal breathing and chakra presence further, with the opportunity, as always with yoga nidra, of bringing to birth new personal resolves into our lives; sowing new seeds of our choice into the bed of our mind. With care, clarity and intent these seeds can grow to become a powerful directive in our lives

Comfort ~ As with all relaxation practices, comfort is of prime importance. Choose clothing you are comfortable in and that will maintain body warmth, as the temperature of the physical body can drop as it settles into stillness. A blanket over the body can be a useful help in leading your awareness within. Sometimes as well putting pillows under the knees can help relax the lower back and diaphragm, helping free, unimpeded breathing.

James Jewell's description of this Chakra Awareness CD:

"I, myself, have used and benefitted enormously from these  practices over the years and therefore I went on to share them with students on retreats and in classes. This cd has been created at  their request to use personally, and to spread the benefits further afield to more people.

May you too, enjoy and benefit from it and therefore from the full magnificence of your being.

Once again I have been blessed to work with Hannah and Joe from Acoustic Eidolon (www.acousticeidolon.com), who generously supplied their home and recording studio in Colorado during the making of this cd, as well as intuitively creating beautiful, original cello music to accompany my voice. It was a wonderful week there helped by Joe's patient, wise presence in the studio (and his smoothies!) and Hannah and Sabina's loving kindness to make the whole thing happen."
