Retreats/Holidays with James Jewell. - or visit the feedback archives for 2008 2007 2006 2005
I've been to two of your retreat weeks in Spain and will be planning more in future. I really like your approach to yoga which builds gently but takes you further than many more aggressive approaches I've experienced. What you are capable of doing at the end of the week comes as a surprise and leaves you feeling like you've moved forward in your practice, feel great in your body and wanting to go further. Even after 12 years of yoga practice, I always feel like I learn something new. Your yoga seems to draw on lots of different styles and approaches which are less familiar and challenge the routines and thinking you can get stuck in, leaving you feeling really positive. And the retreats are really well managed, looking to ensure that you enjoy the place and people as well as the yoga. Your approach to the retreats is relaxed, professional and attentive and you end up feeling like you are always welcome back.
Thank you again, James for a lovely calming week in the sun and for all your attention and 'expertise'.
Have a good summer and hope to see you again next year!
(I came back surprisingly full of energy and enthusiasm and have hardly been grumpy with anyone!) David.UK |

It doesn't take long to get back into the swing of London life! I prefer Molino del Rey life!....... So it won't surprise you to hear that I confirm I will take the last room available for the week of 26th July. Can't wait....
A huge thank you to you for all your input, love, kindness and without doubt the best yoga I've ever been lucky enough to do.
It was a truly memorable week, and I know that Alex and I will grow stronger in our relationship with thanks to everyone all round. Anyway thank you again for a beautiful experience - haven't stopped telling everyone I've come into contact with what a wonderful time we had - they have noticed a chilled out look, which I will make every endeavor to maintain - and I am hopefully drumming up lots of business for you. My partner likes the idea of possibly doing a 4 -5 day staff bonding yoga trip - but that will have to wait for next year. with love and kindness

Hello everyone,
Home safe, but sad to leave Molino behind (as well as all of you lovely people) Thanks for the photos Lesley, great memories and definitely put a smile on my face this morning. Arriving home, it's much more noticeable how chilled I actually feel - I've definitely brought the magic of last week home with me. Thanks for a week of wonderful yoga James. I've managed to keep to my yoga practice today but no meditation on the deck to watch the sunrise unfortunately, its not the same at 10 degrees in the rain! Only one of many reasons to head back to Molino next year. Thank you all for sharing your energy, light and inspiration - I know it's changed me in a very good way. Ashley, you'll be pleased to know my first belly dance class is at 7.30 next Wednesday - I'll let you know how I get on.
Lots of love,Maggie UK |

James, I would like to thank you for the wonderful week I spent at Molino del Rey and the help you gave me with the yoga tuition. As an overweight, middle aged complete yoga novice I must have posed quite a challenge. I have to say that you inspired me with absolute confidence and you taught all the class with sensitivity and perception. I certainly shocked myself with the extent of the yoga moves I accomplished! Feel definitely fitter and have already lost 10lbs since before I had the yoga break, so hope to continue.
I will definitely come back next year. I feel fitter and mentally refreshed and intend to continue with yoga. It has been a revelation - thank you. Marie and I would like to come again next year, perhaps later in the year if you run a course then. I hear that several of the others also want to come again - shows how we all enjoyed it. regards,
Jan UK |

It was indeed too cold after Molino! I've managed to keep the glow that I got while I was there. Several people commented that I must've had a really good time there! I am endeavoring to continue my good mood indefinitely.
Maggie, awesome about the bellydancing! Do let me know how you get on with it. I second the motion - can we do this every year?

Hi you lovelies, welcome home to all of you too!!! Yes temp drop a shock to my system so taken to spending time under duvet to keep warm!!! It's been quite hard to come back home to all the things that I left behind me for Molino, but am so grateful to have had that time to give me the strength to take next steps in dealing. I really missed you all the first morning back I was on my mat and my oms were very feeble without company. (though glad that was not encouraged to do monkey posture!!!!!)
James, just to say thank you so much for all teaching, support and loving kindness you gave to me this week at Molino which I am very grateful for.
Thanks for all being who you are and I am very grateful for the week I spent with you all. I MISS YOU!!!!
Thanks again for a really fantastic retreat.

Just a quick one to say a huge thank you for such a great week. As if feeling refreshed and at peace on arrival home was not enough, I racked up my best time ever on the rowing machine yesterday morning. So, am now convinced yoga is great for rowing too......what more could I ask!
Thanks again, Nicky (rower), London.UKx |

Hi everyone. Firstly, a huge "thank you" to each of you for making last week such a fabulous experience. It was lovely to see the photos from Ian, Claire and Nicky, which have transported me away from my frenetic inbox and back to a tented room where yogic calm prevailed (plus a lot of laughter).

And secondly, I wanted to share these lines from a Sanskrit poem:
"Look well to this day
for it is life
In its brief course lies all of the realities of existence
For yesterday is but a memory and
tomorrow only a vision"
Last week helped me to reflect more on what I want each of my days to be about, and to take some further steps on my journey towards a "path with a heart".
Thank you James, for such a great week. I'm looking forward to joining your group again in the future. I hope to meet up with you again on a future retreat. With love, Carolyn UK

| Hi Seamus
Thanks again for the fantastic yoga - I really enjoyed it even if parts of my body are still complaining! La Hacienda is great and I would certainly recommend it to friends.
Good luck for your other retreats - I'm very jealous now that my trip is over! Take care. Janey Ireland

I would like to thank you again for so healing and caring teaching. I received more then I wished for. My body feels great. Your method helped a lot my back, raising hope for managing my osteoporosis. I am looking forward to receive dates for Gomera.
I am grateful also for your kind friendliness all along and on the last day when you helped Paula and myself to get to the airport. It is very hot here + pollution.

Hello lovely yoga flavoured people!
Attached are my photos from our lovely week at La Hacienda - I'll add my thanks, to those that have already been sent, to you all for making it such a lovely week - and shall, at times of brow furrowing, remember those precious moments; those extra few centimetres of stretch, James reminding us to breathe, and those moments of silence each evening as we let the setting sun sink into our bones...
Sending you much love and hope to see you again getting your next 'Jewell'-fix!

Dear James,
Thank you so much for yet another amazing week of adventure into the "land" of my body and soul.
Once again I am full of gratitude and respect for you and the work you do and your ability to extend the body and mind in so many directions is second to none. Everything is delivered with sensitivity and understanding for the group as a whole, yet remains individual to each person as well. Teasing that little bit more out of us with your "just one more" for the nth time. I very much enjoyed the chakra poses accompanied with the vowel sounds - the household here are planning on institutionalising me as they hear these sounds emanating from behind a closed door.
Warm wishes and love, Caroline and Zoe UK |

Dear Fabulous Gomera Yoga Freaks!!!
Just got home last night from Tenerife and today am so happy to see the wonderful photos and messages from you all! Thank you James, Rebekah and Hannah for the great photos and thank you all for the lovely messages!
Even though I had the amazing experience last week of swimming with about 9 pilot whales around and under me, the people, the hotel location, the food, all that was nothing compared to our beautiful yoga retreat! I admire all you Londoners (and Brightoners) for continuing your meditation in the midst of the sounds of the city, as I will have to try and do now as well, especially with regard to my many crazy noisy neighbours....And Jacqueline hope that you returned to Germany all inspired for your yoga practice with your friend! And to Helder, Max and Catie who returned to Spain and have regular access to James' classes: enjoy, you lucky ba.....s!
Lots of love to all of you! I will light my woodstove tonight and play a little guitar, visualizing our wonderful campfire that last night! xxx Holland |

Hello people!
Lovely photos, Rebekah. I have added a few of mine to the Picasa album.
I hope you are all surviving Monday so far and that the post-retreat blues
aren't biting too hard. The trick is to stay mindlessly positive!! Yay!!!
For example, my meditation this morning was accompanied by the glorious
sounds of the bin men, which made such a nice change from boring old
Atlantic waves and albatrosses...
I must sign off now to continue my epic and probably futile quest for a
halfway-ripe mango in the general vicinity of Brick Lane. Sniff.
Lots of love, Lucy uk
PS,I never wrote to thank you properly James for the retreat. It was wonderful. I love the way you approach the physical practice and make it your own. I really enjoyed exploring and discovering new layers and subtleties under your guidance; it gave me a much-needed injection of inspiration for my own practice and teaching.
As usual, coming back to London was a bit of a bumpy ride. I had a terrible cold for about 2 weeks and could feel all the benefits of the retreat ebbing away as I lay on the sofa coughing and sneezing. The problem is, it’s very dark and rainy here, and there ain’t many mango trees... But also the nurturing aspects of community life are hard to come by in the big city. Which is a roundabout way of saying I miss you, and the funny “family” you manage to draw together around you!

Hello All!
Even though I wasnt "technically" on the retreat I want to thank you all for including me around the dinner table, on the whale trip and for such a lovely last day.
James - you have a very special gift in the atmosphere you create amongst people. I will definitely join whole heartedly and even get up early to join yoga classes twice a day on a future retreat. Im converted!
All - I hope to see you again in another exotic location although it will be hard to beat the dramatic landscape of La Gomera.
Best wishes always,
Kiwi Kat xx New Zealand |

Hi Everyone,
Thank you James for the best yoga retreat I have been on! I had a fantastic chill out week which was well needed. The photos are great and will look properly when I have some time.
Well, James I think its about time you arranged a retreat here at the Monastery in Randa although a year’s notice is needed as it gets quite full with retreats.
James please send me the info for the next retreat so I can add it to the Club Website as I still have La Gomera on it! We may get more people from Mallorca to go on the next one!
Love to all, Sandra xx Mallorca, Spain |

Hello lovely people - some more photos on Picasa for you to view, allow a little sigh to pop out as you remember the warmth and relaxation of our splendid retreat, and then smile gently (not one of those fancy James ones from left heel to right shoulder - but a proper one Cheshire Cat-like!).
Hoping that a week and several days on that you're still feeling the benefits of Mr Jewells magic!
Much love, Elle xxx UK |
